¡Qué le vaya bien, Ralph!

One of the great pleasures of being a CEO occurs when one of your clinical or administrative team gets tapped for a position of responsibility and importance at another institution. The latest was announced today, in that Dr. Ralph de la Torre is heading over to Caritas Christi to be their new CEO. We all wish him well and look forward to a continued and growing relationship between our two organizations in service to our patients.

Paul,
Words can not reflect the gratitude and warmth I feel for you and the BIDMC community. I will refrain from individual thanks for fear it will overwhelm the BIDMC sever! I look back and feel privledged to have been part of the turnaround and what is one of the best healthcare delivery centers in the US. I appreciate the guidance, mentorship, and sense of belonging I have experienced over the last 8 years. You and the BIDMC have not only allowed me to grow but have fostered that growth. I look forward to years of collaboration in what is ultimately our shared goal: Great and cost effective healthcare for everyone in the Commonwealth.

Forever Family,

Ralph

I have your blog bookmarked and as a holistic nutrition therapist interested in quality care, I routinely read your posts although I have no "real" connection with you. I work exclusively with people who have celiac disease -- increasing awareness is my passion as I believe undiagnosed celiac contributed to my dad's death a few years ago (I also have celiac). You seem a bit "alternative" for a president and CEO of a major medical center and I like that. I'm also amazed at your energy!

This random post doesn't belong in this category, but I wanted to say hello and let you know you're reaching people you don't even know exist.

In good health,
Melissa

Are you at all concerned that this man may "steal" some cardiac people from us?

Part of our job always is to create an attractive environment for doctors and other health care professionals. If we don't do that, our folks have lots of options in addition to Caritas Christi.

Lots of changes in the cardiac world - Drs. Coady, Mandapati at Landmark will be moving somewhere after the impending closure of the open heart program there....such good people, so much talent...RI will have a great loss - the BIDMC collaboration has been extraordinary for RI.
